Laute, die du übst
Die Laute, die beim Lernen von Arabisch am schwersten fallen. Dein Coach übt sie live mit dir, und Ausspracheübungen halten sie zwischen den Lektionen frisch.
- ع
عين، سعيد
A squeeze deep in the throat, with no equivalent in most languages. It's a consonant, not a vowel.
- ح / هـ
حب / هبّ، صباح
ح is a strong breathy h from the throat; هـ is a light English h. Mixing them changes the word.
- ص ض ط ظ
صيف / سيف، طين / تين
Emphatic consonants: the tongue root pulls back and the nearby vowels darken.
- ق
قلب، وقت
A k made further back in the throat. Many dialects say it as a glottal stop or a g.
- خ / غ
خبز، غداً
خ is like the ch in Scottish "loch"; غ is its voiced partner, close to a French r.
- ث / ذ
ثلاثة، هذا
Like th in "think" and "this" in Standard Arabic; dialects often say t/s and d/z.
Kultur und Umgangsformen
Arabic has a formal standard used in writing, news and speeches, and spoken dialects used in daily life. Your coach will agree with you which dialect to speak alongside Standard Arabic. Address is also gendered: "you" changes for a man, a woman and a group.
- الفصحى / العامية
- Standard Arabic reads and writes everywhere; a dialect (Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf…) is what people speak at home and in the street.
- أنتَ / أنتِ / أنتم
- Say "you" differently to a man, a woman and a group — and the verb changes too.
- السلام عليكم — وعليكم السلام
- The universal greeting and its fixed reply.
- حضرتك
- A respectful "you" in Egypt for older people, customers and professionals.
- إن شاء الله، الحمد لله
- Everyday expressions about the future and wellbeing — used by people of all backgrounds.
Häufige Fragen
How do I learn to speak Arabic online?
Book a live 30-minute session with a native Arabic coach and start speaking right away. AI practice between sessions locks in vocabulary, script, and pronunciation.
Should I learn Modern Standard Arabic or a dialect?
Both are on the table. Tell your coach whether you want MSA for reading and formal use or a spoken dialect like Egyptian or Levantine, and they'll tailor every session.
Can an Arabic tutor help me read the Quran or reconnect with family?
Yes. Many learners come for heritage, faith, or family — pick a coach who fits that goal and build the exact Arabic you care about.
Is Arabic hard to start if I don't know the alphabet?
Not with a coach guiding you. You'll learn the script and sounds live, at your pace, and be forming real phrases sooner than you'd expect.
