A Day at the Farmers' Market
Last Saturday, Maria and her son Leo went to the farmers' market in their town. They walked between long rows of stalls and looked at fresh vegetables, colourful fruits, and homemade jams. Leo chose a big bag of apples, and Maria bought some tomatoes and a jar of honey. The market was busy and noisy, but everyone was friendly. A farmer gave Leo a small piece of cheese to try, and he loved it.
Next week, they plan to go again. Maria wants to find some fresh herbs for cooking, and Leo hopes to see the dog that sits outside the bread stall. Markets like this one are great places to buy local food and meet people from your community. Maria thinks it is much more fun than shopping in a supermarket.
